Canyon Coral

A special painting by Henk Holsheimer with a relief-like feel. By folding and sanding the heavy Belgian linen in a particular way Holsheimer created a structural pattern. Holsheimer uses centuries-old primer recipes and sizing techniques to achieve warm and particularly natural radiances. Color and title refer to the paint option ‘Canyon Coral’ offered by car manufacturer Chevrolet in the year 1957. 
 
This work, created in 2019, is part of 'The Color Project' (#thclrprjct), an ongoing series in which Holsheimer decontextualizes color on traditional canvas, revealing its aesthetic qualities and energetic resonance. 
 
Framed by the artist in solid ash wood with a distinctive grain. Size in cm: 62,2 × 52,2 × 4,7
