Carioca Rust

Monochrome color field painting by Henk Holsheimer with a calm radiance. Created with broad brushstrokes on primed and irregular textured heavy Belgian linen. Holsheimer uses centuries-old primer recipes to achieve warm and particularly natural radiances. Color and title refer to the paint option ‘Carioca Rust’ offered by car manufacturer Nash in the year 1950. 
 
This work, created in 2019, is part of 'The Color Project' (#thclrprjct), an ongoing series in which Holsheimer decontextualizes color on traditional canvas, revealing its aesthetic qualities and energetic resonance.
