Big Bad Orange

An energetic artwork by Henk Holsheimer with a vibrant and historically significant color in automotive history. Color and title refer to a paint option in a series of radically new colors by car manufacturer American Motors in the year 1969. Homogeneous layers of oil and pigments naturally float upon the rough texture of Belgian linen. Holsheimer uses centuries-old primer recipes to achieve warm and particularly natural radiances. 
 
Created in 2019, the work ‘Big Bad Orange' is part of 'The Color Project' (#thclrprjct), an ongoing series in which Holsheimer decontextualizes color on traditional canvas, revealing its aesthetic qualities and energetic resonance.
