Lichtgrün

 A bold statement piece by Henk Holsheimer. This monochrome color field painting creates a vibrant and energetic focal point for any space. Homogeneous layers of oil and pigments naturally float upon the rough texture of heavy Belgian linen. Holsheimer uses centuries-old primer recipes and sizing techniques to achieve warm and particularly natural radiances. Color and title refer to a rather unusual paint option offered by car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz in the 1980s.
 
Created in 2020, the work 'Lichtgrün' is part of 'The Color Project' (#thclrprjct), an ongoing series in which Holsheimer decontextualizes color on traditional canvas, revealing its aesthetic qualities and energetic resonance.
