Sahara Beige

A bright and serene monochrome color field painting by Henk Holsheimer. Subtle color nuances, fine scratches, small marks, and visible brushstrokes emphasize the raw, irregular texture of the heavy Belgian linen. Holsheimer uses centuries-old primer recipes and sizing techniques to achieve warm and particularly natural radiances. Color and title refer to the paint option ‘Sahara Beige’ offered by car manufacturer Porsche in the year 1974. 
 
This work, created in 2021, is part of 'The Color Project' (#thclrprjct), an ongoing series in which Holsheimer decontextualizes color on traditional canvas, revealing its aesthetic qualities and energetic resonance.
